This is a full size replica, fully engineered by an Aeronautical Engineer. At the asking price of $100,000 it is way less than 1/5 the cost to build. Profile and size exactly the same as MKV Spitfire - The engine is a Lycoming IGSO 540 - driving a McCauley 3 blade prop - Undercarriage is hydraulic with mechanical locks and electric release - Tail wheel is fully castering and steerable - fitted with split flaps as per original - Elevator and Rudder counter balanced - the Joy stick is as per original - fitted with trim controls - Instrumentation: AH/DG/T&B/VSI/ASI/Compass - engine: Tacho/CHT/EGT/fuel press press - Flow - quantity- Oil Press-Temp - Oil cooler under LH wing - Icom VHF - AV8OR GPS Loads of spares including engine and special tooling all included. Takeoff dist approx 480 Mt - cruise 165 knots at 2800/28" - or 250knots at 3000/40" The owner spent in excess of $500K having this built, it was designed originally for an ALLISON V12 and this could still be done, however with cost restraints the owner decided to go to the Lycoming, it still has credible performance with this set up but no doubt would be fantastic with the Allison. |
